Sky: The final frontier

The Google Lat Long Blog has today announced the release of Sky, an add on for Google Earth.

According to the BBC Google Earth users will now be able to "glide through images of more than one million stars and 200 million galaxies. Optional layers allow users to explore images from the Hubble Space Telescope as well as animations of lunar cycles."

To use the new feature you will have to download Google Earth 4.2.

Here is Sally Ride, the first American woman astronaut, introducing Google Sky:

Another new feature of Google Earth 4.3 is the 'Gigapxl Photos' layer. This provides a new way of viewing photos in Google Earth. The video below (no sound) will give you a better idea than me describing it.
